Gary Neville believes Cristiano Ronaldo will raise dressing room standards after poor run of Manchester United results
Pressure is mounting on Solskjaer following another poor result, coupled with a string of tough fixtures which will see United face Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in their next three Premier League games.
Neville has explained how Ronaldo would ruffle a few feathers due to his winning mentality, but it won’t be a ‘disruption’.
“He can upset people naturally by the fact that he wants to win, and he wants to demand standards from them, but that wouldn’t be disruptive in a solid locker room. “
“There is a huge imbalance at Manchester United right now. The team has far too many players who want to play with the ball and not enough players who want to play both sides of the game. “
“You could put it down to the players. You could put it on the manager’s account; he must make the most of it.
Neville goes on to talk about United squad form and how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are struggling to lose possession.
Despite signing Raphael Varane, United have only managed to keep one clean sheet this season.
“But when I look at players like Mane, Firmino, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Foden in the other top teams in the league, last night even looking at Loftus-Cheek and Kovacic in midfield, they are much better out of possession as Manchester United are.
“Manchester United are so baggy when they’re out of possession. All other teams get into a compact and tight form, showing respect to the opposition.
“I don’t care how good you are as a player; if you don’t get into defensive form with each other then you’re going to get pulled apart by half-decent teams, and that’s what’s happening right now.
