The health crisis has reshuffled the cards of the global economy and its logistical needs. For the multimodal activity zone of the Europort, in Thionville, it is a blessing. This former industrial wasteland, formerly in the hands of the steel industry and which the local authorities are seeking to convert, covers 185 hectares between Thionville and Uckange. Today it seems to be at a turning point: on October 18, the E-Log’in 4 syndicate, on-site manager, signed a promise to sell with a serious investor, the Chevalier group. The latter wants to buy 55 hectares of land, including one with a 400-meter quay on the banks of the Moselle, for the sum of 8 million euros (M €). An important transaction but which is nothing compared to the € 70 million that Dominique Chevalier considers necessary in the long term. His group, an expert in transport and logistics, is now positioned in business real estate. In Thionville, the idea is to develop 3 halls of 40,000 m2 each, in order to rent them to manufacturers who need short supply chains that are more ecological than the road. The building permit for the first two halls will be submitted before the end of the year. The hypothesis of 200 jobs to start remains credible.
