Breathe a sigh of relief in the small Habichsthal district of Frammersbach: Kreisstrae 21 is open to traffic again. Those involved celebrated this on Friday afternoon at the village community center. Landrtin Sabine Sitter outlined the extensive work in the through-town in a short speech.
It all started on August 18th last year with the expansion of a 180-meter-long section of Dorfstrasse from the confluence with Aubachstrasse to the exit towards Wiesthal. The block wall made of sandstone, which is arranged on the slope side and stretches along almost the entire route, is striking, emphasized Sitter. The construction phase was completed in November 2020.
After a four-month winter break, the expansion of the 275-meter-long Aubachstrae continued. In addition to the carriageway, a continuous sidewalk with a barrier-free crossing and bus stops on both sides were created. At the end of the village in the direction of Frammersbach, a 70 meter long wall made of sandstone blocks was also built. This made it possible to lengthen the sidewalk and connect it to the adjacent hiking trails.
The expansion of the confluence area Dorfstrasse and Aubachstrasse from August 16, 2021 to September 10, 2021 was critical in terms of time. During this time, it was impossible to drive through, which made Habichsthal a dead end from all directions. With the completion, the Dorfstrasse and Aubachstrasse were also completed. In the last construction phase, a 470 meter long section on the free stretch following the Aubachstrasse towards Frammersbach was rehabilitated. In addition to the road surface, the sewer was renewed on the slope side.
The engineering firm Khl from Wrzburg was entrusted with the planning of the project. Construction management and supervision were the responsibility of the civil engineering department of the Main-Spessart district office. The executing construction company was Strabag AG.
Grant from the Free State
The construction costs of the project amount to around 1.6 million euros. The Frammersbach market is involved in this at a cost of around 350,000 euros. Of this, 300,000 euros go back to the renovation of the asphalt pavement on the free stretch. The Free State of Bavaria funded the package with 500,000 euros.
Frammersbach’s deputy mayor and rector of the Wiesthal / Neuhtten primary school, Elisabeth Ruby, was delighted with the opening of the penalty area. She praised the patience of the Habichsthalers, who had to take long detours. They had already tolerated the restrictions on the construction of the new water pipeline and additional sewer works.
Lines renewed
The market town had used the road works to carry out the necessary renewals of the supply lines. This was done in consultation with the District Office. The coordination worked perfectly, with Frammersbach’s building authority manager Klaus Schwab acting as the interface, it was said on Friday. Ruby described the design of the town entrances as very successful and inviting.
