The accident took place in October 2015 in Vångaberget in northeastern Skåne. An unplanned detonation threw off a 340 kilo boulder that hit the excavator in which the man was sitting.
– As a result of the explosion, there has been a shower of stones in a larger format that went right into the cab of the machine operator, said Mikael Svensson, fire engineer on duty, after the accident.
The detonation occurred when explosive goods had been left behind after explosions the previous day.
Three of the four managers charged were active at the company that carried out the blasts and the fourth is chairman of the board of the company where the excavator operator was employed. According to the indictment, the managers have been negligent and have not lived up to the requirements of the Work Environment Act. In addition to the charges against the managers, the prosecutor also demands that the companies pay SEK 3 million each in fines.
