At the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) on Sunday, the first title in the club’s history was won by Chicago’s “Sky”, beating Phoenix’s “Mercury” in three finals, according to the organizers.
In the fourth game of the final series, “Sky” was superior to the basketball players at home with 80:74 and secured the victory in the series 3: 1.
Prior to the elimination tournament, the Chicago club was not considered a real contender for the title, as the team won and lost equally often in the regular season.
However, in the playoffs, the Sky basketball players were the best, although they were placed in sixth place. On the way to the semi-finals, the next champions defeated the clubs of Dallas and Minnesota, but in the fight for a place in the final they also surpassed the highest-ranked Connecticut Sun. In the final series, “Sky” suffered the only loss in the second game, but already in the next match beat the opponents with a 36-point advantage.
