In the week through October 12, there were an average of 2,438 infections daily, a 28 percent increase compared to the previous seven-day period. In the meantime, there have been 1,279,869 infections since the start of the health crisis.
When we look at the daily figures, we see that the number of new infections is higher every day of the week than on the same day a week earlier.

Testing
The number of tests taken is increasing, to an average of almost 46,000 per day.
5.6 percent of the tests performed were positive. The reproduction number is 1.06 percent. A number above 1 means the epidemic is gaining momentum.
Hospital admissions
The number of hospital admissions rose by five percent. In the period from 9 to 15 October, there were an average of 60.4 admissions per day.
A total of 80,546 corona patients have been admitted to Belgian hospitals since the start of the corona pandemic.
There are currently 824 patients in Belgian hospitals (+14 percent), including 190 in intensive care. There is a drop of 7 percent.

Covid-19 caused an average of 10.6 casualties per day in the week through October 12, an increase of 28 percent compared to the previous seven-day period. Since the start of the pandemic, 25,747 people have died in our country.
Vaccinations
8,645,665 Belgians have already received at least the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. That amounts to 87.6 percent of the adult population and 75.0 percent of the total population. 8,489,064 people have already been fully vaccinated. That is 86.2 percent of the adult and 73.7 percent of the entire population.
In Flanders, 5,354,599 inhabitants are at least partially vaccinated: 80.5 percent of the entire population or 92.9 percent of adults. 5,300,843 of them are fully vaccinated: 79.7 percent of the population or 92.0 percent of adults.
