Amazon Prime has finally entered Poland! The loud announcement of the premiere from last Tuesday spread rapidly in the industry, and the delight over the phenomenal movement from the hated by many Jeff Bezos was endless. And it’s hardly surprising, because for just PLN 49 we got Prime Video, Prime Gaming, free shipping from Amazon and a bit more. Ah, I didn’t mention… This price is annual.
In this text, I would like to focus on the first element of a popular service, i.e. on a video site from a giant that has always had ambitions to compete with the biggest. Today, of course, it differs from Netflix, Disney Plus or HBO Go, but it is still a solid platform that has quite a lot to offer. You can find really interesting original series there, so let me introduce you to ten that you can’t pass by indifferently!
Everything or nothing
In this case, I cheat a bit – it is not one position, but a whole group of series about various sports teams. Initially, they concerned those related to American football, and recently they are much closer to football. And every fan of this discipline just has to watch them. We have one season for Brazil, one for Manchester City, one for Tottenham, and in some time it will also appear about Arsenal.
Fighting Goliath
And if you like legal dramas, you will surely like this one. It tells about Billy McBride (in this role, the Golden Globe winner Billy Thornton), an attorney who became – colloquially speaking – spat on by his associates. In retaliation, he decides to retaliate and crush the office that was his child. Vendetta, however, will not be easy, but as you know – the motivation is hard to break.
Clarkson Farm
You must know Jeremy Clarkson, I have no doubts about it, but … Do you know him from the side of this series? The title is by no means a mistake – we observe a colorful figure of show business who runs his own farm. Of course, there are also automotive issues, but you can really relax during the screening. Anyway, Clarkson’s fans do not need to be persuaded twice.
The Man in the High Castle
We often ask ourselves “what if …”. And this issue was examined by Frank Spotnitz. The creator of the series decided to present an alternative version of the United States, in which the Second World War was won by the Third Reich. So, as you can guess, there will be a lot of differences. Well, and if you love the atmosphere of Wolfenstein games, you will find yourself in this title without any problem. Check it out for yourself!
Invincible: Invincible
Robert Kirkman (creator of, among others, “The Walking Dead”) showed with a comic book prototype that you can create a story about superheroes that will not come out of the Marvel or DC banner, but will present a world-class level. Animation from Prime Video it perfectly reflected what the fans loved on paper. A phenomenal series that, although seemingly quite clichéd, reveals the best tastes after being recessed.
The Expanse
One of the best sci-fi series in recent yearsI have absolutely no doubts about it. Great pictures, a wonderful plot and a cosmic atmosphere that makes fans of the genre feel at home here. So far, Amazon has served us six seasons, and the story still seems to be on the level. If you have not heard about the series before, be sure to catch up, because at least it should be given a chance.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan
I do not have to recommend the brand’s fans, and I will just write that to those unfamiliar with it is one of the best sensational series of recent years. It focuses on an analyst from the CIA, the eponymous Ryan, who tries to thwart the plans of terrorists who seek to intimidate the entire world. An additional advantage in this case is the cast of actors – the main role is played by the brilliant John Krasinski.
Good Omen
I guess if I just wrote here that we are dealing with a screen adaptation of a novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, that would be more than enough to entice even the least interested! A wonderful perspective of the approaching Armageddon and an extremely original approach to the eternally presented fight between good and evil. Check even the first episode, and if it comes, you will stay for much longer.
Fleabag
When someone seems to us to be very self-confident, somewhat distanced, rude and “liberated” from all problems, it happens that we find him arrogant. Unfortunately it is often a mask to hide personal tragedies and problems. This is what it looks like in the case of the main, title character of this series. We follow her attempt to settle down after what she has lived. And it is a phenomenal journey.
The Boys
At the end, production that you just need to know. If you are fed up with superhero movies and series that seem to be made for one and the same hoof – reach for “The Boys”. This is a series that presents the genre a bit in a crooked mirror and approaches the subject in a completely different way. There is no boredom here – but there is a great atmosphere, a fantastic scenario and an incredible breath of fresh air for the genre.
