It is one of the treasures of Nancy. However, the origin of Bergamot de Nancy still conceals a number of mysteries, even for the inhabitants of the City of the Dukes. The advent in Lorraine of this citrus fruit from southern Italy took place over several centuries, shaping an unusual history. With this Long format, we invite you to go through the centuries which led to the creation of this famous candy. A candy whose delicacies also had to be protected from imitations of all kinds. Obtaining a PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) was not the least of the challenges for a confectionery whose main ingredient came from a region several hundred kilometers away. Challenge met in 1996 after an epic battle in which Jean-Luc Guillevic, the confectioner of the Lalonde house, plunges back into it. One of the four Lorraine artisans with the right to manufacture and sell Bergamot de Nancy.
