“In any case, we know that there are enough projects on the table to guarantee security of supply after the nuclear phase-out,” federal minister Van der Straeten responds. “Obviously they should get the opportunities they deserve.”
According to Van der Straeten, “security of supply does not depend solely on gas-fired power stations”. The minister refers to renewable energy. “We are going to triple our offshore wind (sic). But in the meantime, we will need a limited number of gas-fired power stations for a while. The N-VA has confirmed in parliament that gas-fired power stations are needed.”
“Security of supply and affordability are a shared responsibility of all governments in this country. Everyone has a power and responsibility in this. I assume that Mrs Demir will not play games with this,” said the federal energy minister in a response to press agency Belgium.
