charges of the police, prevented the arrival at the headquarters of the CGIL

The targets of choirs and banners – In addition to the government, virologists, journalists and law enforcement agencies, after the assault on the national headquarters of the CGIL last Saturday in Rome, among the targets of the protesters’ choirs and banners, the trade unionists also ended up, with placards that recited, among the other, phrases like “Landini fool the people in procession” and “Cgil Cisl and Uil the fascists are you”. For the first time, religious signs appeared in the procession, including one with a photo of Padre Pio and another with an image of the Madonna.

Tilted traffic and tension with the policeNumerous inconveniences caused to the traffic of the city center, with the internal ring road completely blocked for hours and the surface vehicles diverted. After a first part of a peaceful and orderly demonstration, with the demonstrators who seemed to be heading towards the Rai headquarters in Corso Sempione, the leader of the procession changed its route several times, causing more moments of tension with the police, towards which the leader of the parade launched slogans such as “Today we drive you crazy”.

After being blocked in an attempt to take Via della Moscova and enter the Brera district, the protest headed towards Piazza Duomo. Here the demonstrators continued to shout their usual slogans “No Green pass”, “Freedom, liberty” and “Hands off the children”, as well as insults to Prime Minister Draghi. A much smaller group subsequently decided, to the cry of “Trieste calls, Milan responds” to resume the procession. At the level of via Borgogna, very close to the Prefecture, the Court and the Chamber of Labor, however, the tension has risen again.

The leading group, also made up of anarchists, tried to break through the security cordon of police in riot gear. There were two lightening charges that prevented the protesters from advancing. Some of them have been hit by batons, but there are no injuries yet. Then around 9 pm the procession started again along Corso Venezia in the direction of Corso Buenos Aires.
