Paul McCartney reacted to Peter Jackson’s documentary The Beatles: Get Back by saying it gave him a new perspective on John Lennon.

The three-part work is built from recordings made while the group was working on their last studio project before they split up in 1970.
George Harrison temporarily left the band during the sessions, as his frustration with being overlooked as a songwriter was at its height. These moments are detailed in the documentary.
Paul McCartney said George Harrison was right to step down, detailing in an interview with The New Yorker a conversation he had with John Lennon: “I remember saying to John, ‘Look, it should be just you and me as the writers. We never said, ‘Let’s leave George out of this’, but it was implied ”.
Paul McCartney added that The Beatles: Get Back proves that the real story behind the album’s creation was different from that told in the original 1969 film, Let It Be, which helped fuel the public’s perception that it was responsible for the group’s disappearance.
“Sometimes the big brother yells at the little brother, and they fight. It’s just natural […] Believing in this myth that I was the bad one bothered me for years. But I don’t feel like it bothers me now, because I feel like a lot of people get it. ”
Paul McCartney listed another positive aspect of Peter Jackson’s version of events.
“Whenever I was in the band, when I played on stage, I was turned outwards. John was to my left or right, so I never really got to see him play. Except in the documentary. And now he’s a close-up. I can study everything from him. ”
