Extreme overclocking of Raspberry Pi CM 4 at 3 GHz

Autor: Raspberry Pi Foundation

Claude Black published on Wednesday the result of extreme overclocking Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 up to 3 GHz. To achieve such a result, it was necessary to remove the SoC cap and replace the conductive paste with a better liquid metal Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut (contains gallium, tin and indium).

A heat sink is mounted on the processor, and a cooling spray had to be used. The firmware also had to be modified, all security fuses were removed.
