The Secretariat of Aquaculture and Fisheries of Brazil has published the Ordinance that establishes the criteria of Official Control of Compliance with the hygienic-sanitary conditions of fishing vessels that supply the raw material for the industrial processing of fishery products destined for the European Union which introduces the possibility of unloading fish in intermediate infrastructure, provided that they are included in the self-control of the destination establishment, registered in the SIF, and the hygienic and sanitary criteria established by the competent authority are observed.

This new law repeals the Normative Instruction of Maps No. 57, of October 31, 2019, becoming a complementary standard to the SAP-Map Ordinance No. 310, of December 24, 2020, with specific points for the qualification of fishing vessels.

Exports of Brazilian fish and fishery products to the European Union they are still suspended and, for the evaluation of the reopening of this market to be requested, the adequate implementation of the Control program is necessary. Therefore, it is essential that companies, shipowners and representatives of the sector interested in exporting to the European Union, request the authorization of fishing vessels according to the requirements established by the Ministry.
