Lautaro Martinez leads Tango team to win

Argentina back to victory in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers CONMEBOL zone. entertain Peru, Lionel Messi et al won 1-0.

Playing at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, Friday (15/10) morning WIB, Argentina had threatened the Peru goal in the 4th minute. Angel Di Maria fired a shot from the penalty box after receiving Lionel Messi’s pass, but the result was still wide on the right side of the Peru goal.

Peru replied two minutes later. Gianluca Lapadula’s free kick managed to lead to the goal of Argentina, but goalkeeper Emi Martinez was able to block it. Lapadula had another chance to score in the 21st minute, but Martinez’s finish was thwarted again.

Argentina had a chance to score in the 34th minute, this time through Messi’s free kick. His shot was on target, but the goalkeeper Peru Pedro Gallese managed to hold it.

GOAL! Finally Argentina broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute. Nahuel Molina’s accurate cross from the right was headed hard by Lautaro and Gallese failed to keep out. The 1-0 score lasted until the break.

In the second half, Peru got another chance in the 56th minute, again through Lapadula. The Italian-blooded striker shot the ball from the edge of the penalty box, but did not pose a significant threat to Martinez.

Penalty for Peru! In the 63rd minute, Jefferson Farfan received a through ball and ran into the penalty box. Martinez tried to close the speed of the veteran striker, but instead violated it. There was clear contact, and the referee did not hesitate to point to the spot.

Yoshimar Yotun stepped up as the executor, but his shot hit the crossbar instead. Martinez celebrates, and the score remains 1-0.

Argentina try to refocus. Messi had another chance with a free-kick in the 70th minute, but Gallese again managed to deny it.

In the remaining time, no more goals are created. Argentina locked a 1-0 win, and firmly in second place in the CONMEBOL zone standings with 25 points from 11 matches, meanwhile Peru stuck in 9th place with just 11 points from 12 matches.
