Participants in the demonstration – carried out by supporters and allies of the Hezbollah group – were on their way to the Palace of Justice to protest against judges investigating a deadly explosion in Beirut port in August 2020, when they were attacked by unidentified gunmen in the Ain el-Remmaneh neighborhood.
Last month, an investigation into the Beirut port explosion was suspended due to a lawsuit filed against judge Tarek Bitar. However, it was later revealed that the lawsuit was rejected.
