Pressure on march increases in front of Cologne: help for striker Silva
A victory or it will be really uncomfortable. After the lesson in the Champions League in Manchester and only one success from four Bundesliga games, Leipzig’s new coach Jesse Marsch has to win in Cologne.

Although the club had to surrender a dozen national players during the international break and thus hardly a complete team training was possible before the Bundesliga game on this Saturday (3.30 p.m. / Sky) in Breisgau, Marsch sees no disadvantage in this. “I think it’s more than an advantage that we have so many players in the national teams, because that means we have a lot of quality in the team,” emphasized the American.
It is still a journey into the unknown. The Freiburg team will be playing for the first time in the Bundesliga in the new Europa-Park Stadium. SC coach Christian Streich has already appealed to the fans: It should be loud, at least as loud as in the old Dreisamstadion. “We want us to hear that we have a home game,” said the 56-year-old coach. “It’s the same team, the same club, it’s just a different building,” he emphasized.
After all, he wants to avert the first defeat in front of 20,000 spectators. “I hope that the spectators will be with us from the very first minute, as they always were in the Dreisamstadion,” said Streich. RB won six of the ten Bundesliga duels against Freiburg, most recently in March. It was the last home defeat. The sports club has been unbeaten at home for seven games. RB has been chasing a victory for six Bundesliga guest appearances.
“The team has not only played well this season, it is clear, a good group and always dangerous when it comes to standards,” said Marsch about the third place in the table. He was particularly impressed by his colleague Christian Streich: “Streich is a great trainer, I also like his Pk’s.”
Marsch gave the all-clear to Nordi Mukiele and Christopher Nkunku, who had to stop training the day before. Nkunku even left the place pissed off, only later let march calm him down in the cabin. “Nkunku was angry with the team because he lost the training game, plus a small injury and a bit of dissatisfaction,” said Marsch and emphasized: “I’m happy that he is in this form at the moment.”
Kevin Kampl and Yussuf Poulsen, who had a slight cold, were also already there for Saturday and only trained individually. Brian Brobbey may only be out for a week with his thigh problems. Then Marsch also expects Dani Olmo back in team training. National player Marcel Halstenberg is undergoing a minor knee operation and will be out for at least two weeks. dpa
