Bachkova was a Member of Parliament in the 45th and 46th National Assemblies of the PG of Democratic Bulgaria and is Deputy Speaker of the DSB. Although she was nominated as the leader of the list by the DSB regional assembly, Atanas Atanasov replaced her at the last minute with another candidate who is not even a member of the party.

According to sources, Atanas Atanasov has been trying for a long time to get rid of Bachkova because she overshadowed him, Glasove.bg reports. Acquaintances say that the paranoia of the former intelligence general is the main reason why the list of “Democratic Bulgaria” in Stara Zagora is not registered by the REC.
Atanasov suspected conspiracies against himself and made them postpone the submission of the documents until the last minute of the deadline. This thwarted the possibility of correcting the gaps in them and the DEC quite rightly refused to register the DB lists in one of the largest constituencies in Bulgaria.
According to lawyers, if there is no political pressure, there is no legal basis for the list to be registered even after the ongoing appeal. Dear supporters, At yesterday’s meeting (October 12, 2021) of the election headquarters of 24 MIR, in my capacity as chairman of the regional organization and the election headquarters, I was tasked to bring to your attention the following declaration:
“TO ATANAS ATANASOV CHAIRMAN OF THE PP DEMOCRATS FOR A STRONG BULGARIA
Mr President,
We, the leadership of the regional organization of “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria” in 24 MIR, on behalf of all members and supporters, declare their categorical disagreement with the replacement of the leading candidate of the party – Mrs. Tsetska Bachkova in the list for the upcoming parliamentary elections. moment and by a sole decision of the chairman of the party, without any coordination with the structures and governing bodies. We insist that when choosing a leading candidate, the following should be taken into account:
1. The nominations of the regional organizations;
2. The experience so far, the long-term efforts made for the development of the party and the foundations laid in the previous two campaigns for the promotion and establishment of Ms. Bachkova as a leading candidate of DSB in the region;
3. Party affiliation.
With such a registered list, Mr. Chairman, you left the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria without a leading candidate in a key Sofia multi-member constituency.
This decision of yours leads to severe consequences and to anxious demotivation of the members and supporters of DSB. The regional organization and the pre-election headquarters of 24 MIR declare their categorical refusal to participate in a campaign with a forced candidate, without any coordination procedures, especially when this candidate is not even a member of the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria.
We believe that this individual act is extremely immoral and is contrary to the fundamental principles of the party.
