Videos showing crocodiles have been the most shared in recent days on social networks. Several of our witnesses confirm these presences which, however, would not be recent.
During yesterday’s episode of heavy rains (Tuesday, October 12, 2021), witnesses broadcast videos showing several crocodiles in the Lézarde river.
These animals would have left the bay of Lamentin and taking advantage of the rising waters, they seemed to discover their environment. “A crocodile with two other little ones by his side, a medium and a very small one and when their presence caused an influx of curious people, they dived “, says Eddy.

Already in August 2009, hunters had also filmed the presence of at least one of these reptiles on the same body of water. And it is obviously between the bay of Lamentin and the canal next to the airport of Lamentin that they would have found refuge.
How many are they ? Are they dangerous? Can they go to places frequented by swimmers or hunters? Are they crocodiles or caimans? We do not have official answers yet, but these reptiles have been in our waters for twenty years.
