Due to some COVID-19 infections, which were established over the past weekend, rapid tests were taken from staff at the Communication Service Suriname (CDS). CDS director Alven Roosveld says that in order to control and prevent further spread of the virus in the workplace, it has been decided to invite the Public Health Office (BOG) to do swabs.
The CDS CEO further says that this activity is important for the continuation of business operations under conditions that minimize the chance of spreading.
“We cannot afford to come into contact with other people and be a source of dissemination there. Imagine having thirty people in the workplace today going to 5 different places means that every place we go to we could be a potential hazard. That responsibility lies with us to ensure that we keep this environment safe and that we do not pose a danger to the people we visit.”
Roosveld calls on staff, regardless of the workplace, to bear their own responsibility, so as not to endanger the health of themselves and others. This can be done by continuing to comply with the current COVID-19 measures. He also urges employers to do everything they can to keep working conditions and workplaces as safe as possible.
“If we all take our responsibility by working on safe conditions, we will slow down the spread of this disease,” says Roosveld.
