Bayern footballer sentenced to prison for reconciliation and marriage to girlfriend

A Madrid court sentenced Bayas München footballer Lucas Hernandez to six months in prison for violating a restraining order imposed on him in 2017 for domestic violence. In that case, his girlfriend at the time, and since then his wife, Amelia Ossa Llorente, had been the victim.

On Wednesday, the court said it would not accept Hernandez’s earlier appeal, in which he asked for a suspended sentence, but that court rejected that, citing the man had already been convicted twice in the 2017 case. The football player must appear in court on October 19 and then have 10 days to go to jail. Hernandez appealed against that.

In February 2017, both Hernandez and his girlfriend were sentenced to 31-31 days of community service for violent behavior, abuse, and property damage in the lawsuit, but the man could not have approached the woman closer than 500 meters. This was a condition for the suspension of his prison sentence.

Hernandez was first detained at Madrid airport in June 2017 for violating the restraining order when they returned home from their honeymoon. In the meantime, they reconciled and got married. (Reuters)
