In the latest case, the police have arrested five people. In addition, two minors who were victims were also arrested.

South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah said the practice of prostitution in vertical housing was revealed from reports about missing children. After an investigation, it turned out that the child was involved in prostitution online in the apartment.

“It turns out that the child is a victim of prostitution online or sexual or economic exploitation as a child,” Azis told reporters, Wednesday (13/10).

Azis explained that from the police operation in the apartment his party found there were five men, namely AL (19), FH (18), AM (36), CD (25), and DA (19).

In this case, AL, CD, and DA act as pimps. While AM acts as an apartment tenant and FH as a victim pick-up.

In addition, at the same location, two underage women were also arrested. Namely, ZR (16) and RCL (16).

Azis explained that the suspects peddled their victims to mashers via the Michat application. Victims are offered at prices ranging from Rp. 250 thousand to Rp. 750 thousand. The victim is said to have served dozens of masher men.

“If they get Rp. 250,000 each, they get Rp. 50,000. If they sell Rp. 750 thousand, they can get more each, it could be Rp. 150 thousand to Rp. 200 thousand,” said Azis.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 88 Jo 76 (1) or Article 83 Jo 76 (f) or Article 81 Jo 76 (d) Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

The incident at the Kalibata City apartment was not the first to happen. Last year, the South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Bastoni Purnama, said that most of the six victims of prostitution at the Kalibata City Apartment, South Jakarta, had dropped out of school.

Bastoni stated that if the practice of prostitution again occurred in the apartment, the police would take strict action against the manager or the owner of the room.
