The Faculty of Administration, Finance and Business of our University organized the seminar called New wave of Chinese investment in Chile: challenges and opportunities, an online event that will feature the participation of former President Eduardo Frei, among other prominent guests.
The webinar, which will be transmitted via zoom from 10:00 am, will address interesting topics by the following panelists:
- Current status of the bilateral relationship and projections for Chinese investments in Chile
Mr. Eduardo Frei, former President of Chile and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador for the Asia-Pacific region.
- Current outlook and effects of Chinese investment in Chile
Mr. Andrés Rodríguez, Director Invest Chile.
- Operation of the public enterprise system in China
Mr. Jorge Heine, Professor of International Relations, Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University. Former Chilean Ambassador to China, India and South Africa.
- Experience in the Chilean market
Mr. Zou Weiqiang, Huawei Public Relations Director.
The words of welcome to the event will be given by the Rector of the SEK University, Mrs. Eva Flandes. Meanwhile, the closing will be carried out by Mr. Fernando Reyes Matta, Director of the Center for China Studies at the Andrés Bello University and former Ambassador to China; and Mr. Andrés Rebolledo, Dean of the Faculty of Administration, Finance and Business and SEK University.
“Chinese investment has grown enormously in Chile in recent years. In fact, in the last two years it has been the main source of foreign capital inflows to the country. This means that China is taking our country as a favorite destination for its companies and it is likely that this trend and this flow will continue to grow. However, in Chile there are certain concerns about the presence of Chinese capital, particularly in strategic sectors. This is why we have found it interesting to do this seminar to be able to know what the impact and projections of this investment are, also to know how public companies work and to really have information on how they are organized in their country and abroad; and to have a perspective of how these investments will evolve in our country in the coming years ”, commented Dean Rebolledo about the relevance of the realization of this webinar.
