Currently a lot Honda motorcycles which is not using the key alias keyless.
The feature that provides many conveniences for motorcycle lovers is called the Honda Smart Key System.
In Indonesia, the first motorcycle produced directly by PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) using the Honda Smart Key System was the Honda Smart Key System Honda PCX.
Furthermore, this advanced feature was applied to the Honda Scoopy, Vario 150, ADV 150, PCX 160, Honda PCX e: HEV, and Honda PCX Electric.
This includes premium scooters which are also marketed in Indonesia, such as Honda Forza, Honda Super Cub C125, hingga big bike Honda X-ADV, CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and Honda Goldwing.
The Smart Key System helps consumers to operate a motorcycle without a key which is equipped with advanced features, such as an answer back system and an anti-thief alarm.
Answer back system is a feature to find the position of the motorcycle and notify that the immobilizer function on the Honda Smart Key system has been activated.
Meanwhile, the anti-thief alarm feature (anti-theft alarm system) serves to reduce the possibility of theft occurring.
If the anti-theft alarm system has been activated and the sensor detects vibration or movement on the motorcycle, the buzzer sounds loudly and the turn signal flashes.
“The embedding of advanced features in the Honda Smart Key System will increase the sense of security and comfort for motorcycle users.”
“Of course, drivers need to know how to use and care for them properly to be able to use them optimally,” said Endro Sutarno, Technical Service Division of PT AHM.
The following are tips from AHM in the use and maintenance of the Honda Smart Key to keep it optimal:
1. Avoid Excessive Pressure
Excessive pressure on the remote smart key can cause damage.
Press the remote button properly when activating or using the features available on the Honda Smart Key System and avoid falling from a height.
2. Keep it dry
Water entering from the sidelines of the remote can potentially cause damage to the Honda Smart Key System due to an electric short circuit.
If exposed to water or wet, it should be dried before use and avoid exposure to the sun for too long because it will damage the related components.
3. Avoid Putting the Remote in the Luggage
It is better not to put the smart key in the trunk of the motorbike or in places that could potentially be left behind and allow the motorbike to be operated by others.
Also make sure the remote is always attached to you, can be placed in a bag or in a pocket to reduce the potential for losing the remote smart key.
4. Avoid Electromagnetic Radiation
Keep the Honda Smart Key System away from objects that generate radio waves such as televisions, computers/laptops, cellphones, transmitting towers because they have the potential to interfere with the signal or frequency of the Smart Key System remote.
5. Keep and Secret ID Tag
Keep the ID Tag in a safe place and do not share the ID Tag code with others.
The ID tag functions as a tool to operate a motorcycle in an emergency, additional registration when all Honda Smart Key Systems are lost and immobilizer ID registration when the Smart Control Unit is replaced.
6. Save Smart Key Backup
It is enough to carry only one Smart Key when driving, so that if you experience losing your remote smart key while driving, there are still other spare smart keys at home.
7. Position Remote Off When Not In Use
When you arrive at your destination, make sure the position of the motorcycle is in the handlebar lock and the remote is in the Off position, so that the signal connecting the smart key and the motorcycle is cut off.
The Honda Smart Key System indicator in the OFF position is a red light on the remote and will light up when pressed.
