El Salvador to build an animal hospital with its bitcoin (BTC) profit, President Bukele announces » Crypto Insiders

Nayib Bukele, El Salvador’s Controversial President, Goes With bitcoin (BTC) build an animal hospital. The president of the Central American country announced this on October 10 via Twitter:

El Salvador also manages a bitcoin fund in support of its bitcoin law. this fund, to which Bukele recently added 150 BTC and now at 700 BTC, it has recently grown in value due to the rising bitcoin price.

Bukele says the fund now has a “surplus” of $4 million in USD that it will invest in the new veterinary hospital. Bukele emphasizes that no bitcoin is sold from the fund and that only USD is used.

Furthermore, the president reports that the hospital will consist of 19 offices, 4 operating rooms, 4 emergency clinics, 2 classrooms, a rehabilitation room, a barbershop, a laboratory, an auditorium and more. The animal hospital aims to perform 384 consultations, 64 operations, 63 admissions, 64 haircuts and 32 x-rays every day.

Not all Salvadorans seem to be equally enthusiastic about this. It can be read from the Twitter reactions that many people believe that this amount could have been better spent on regular health care. There are also still complaints from people who have problems with the Chivo wallet.

The introduction of the bitcoin law in the country has received much praise but also much criticism. Even Ethereum (ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin recently lashed out at the experiment. According to Buterin, forcing accepting bitcoin is at odds with the ideals of the world of cryptocurrencies about freedom of choice.
