The science festival was in full swing at the royal abbey of l’Epau, in Yvré-l’Evêque (Sarthe), those Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October 2021.
Historically organized on the university campus, the science village of Mans (Sarthe) had moved to 24 Hour Museums in 2014 before joining, in 2016, the Epau abbey, property of the Department of Sarthe.
A magnificent place adopted since and it is not the 2021 edition that will call it into question, on the contrary!
Science on a wider scope
To celebrate the 30th edition, the team of Maine Sciences responsible for the coordination of the Fête de la science at the departmental level has put the dishes in the big ones and even pushed the walls of the abbey.
Thus, for the first time, stands were placed inside the abbey church in addition to those installed in the monks’ dormitory.
In the cloister, visitors could relax in long chains or take advantage of the telescope installed by the astronomy club from the University of Le Mans to observe the sun, which was also there.
The icing on the cake for the 30th anniversary of the Fête de la science in Sarthe, Science Comedy Show made, as at Sablé a week earlier, the event a little more festive than usual.
Captivated visitors
With the health restrictions in force, no record of attendance was broken, but the essentials were elsewhere. The primary objective was to discover science in as many facets as possible and on this point the 2021 edition is a real success!
Thanks to the involvement of new partners, in particular the House of Man and the Carnuta Forest or even the ark of nature, the natural sciences were well represented. La Flèche zoo was also part of the event, notably with a conference hosted by the charismatic veterinarian Cyril Hue.
We even hurried to observe and even touch the serpents presented by the rangers of the nearby Ark of Nature!
