Oh no. When we have that whole rotten virus completely under control in a while, there won’t be a rooster crowing anymore. But unfortunately it is now causing a lot of division. Lange Frans has joined the group of most outspoken noisemakers and troublemakers. He openly doubts the corona policy and strongly opposes QR codes and vaccinations. A certain group of people take that to heart and support the rapper’s tirades, but are now disappointed – some angry – that he performed at an event in Edam that required a QR code or a negative test. The people he infuriated with his statements and actions against the corona policy were already critical or angry with Frans, so he sits in the corner where the blows fall.
Is Lange Frans really such a wappie or crazy?
That’s exactly it: Revu has been talking to him for years and thinks he’s an intelligent guy. He has done beautiful things for Dutch music, such as the singles with Baas B. as a duo: Moppie, meaningless on The country of… became big hits. However, since Frans started a podcast in the summer of 2020 in which he mainly focuses on all kinds of conspiracy theories, he has created clear supporters and opponents of his rather outspoken personality. In October, his account was deleted by YouTube, removing all of his music from past decades. This happened after Arjen Lubach Lange mentioned Frans as an example of conspiracy theorists who, according to him, are sucked into their own parallel reality via algorithms on the internet. ‘On the one hand, I can understand that people find it strange that Frans performs at events where there is a need to check. I’m very steadfast in that and I’m not going anywhere. On the other hand, I find it very difficult. A friend of mine is a cook, who is also heavily against the corona measures and has also been on demonstrations. The same goes for a friend of mine who is a toilet attendant. They are both against the vaccinations and the corona check, but they are allowed to work. If they resign because they disagree, they’re out of food. Frans does not have his own tour, while he has been in the business for twenty years and would like to celebrate his anniversary. We don’t do concerts, we don’t organize anything else. But Frans has chosen to just go when he is booked; he then plays the songs that have been removed on YouTube and Spotify in order to continue to proclaim his message. In this way he continues to contribute to the protest.
That is actually the same as his raps about the royal family. They are critical, but he is invited to come and rap for employees of the royal family, in this case for Defense. The client knows in advance what Frans is saying and doing and he really won’t start rapping nicer about the royal family or anything like that. He makes it clear what he thinks about the royal family and also about its leaders. It is very difficult to act now; I myself might also say: I don’t do it. But Frans says: what do people want me to do then? I suggested to him to play the whore, because then you don’t need a QR code. And I think there are a lot of women out there who are willing to give it a shot. I just don’t know if their men will all be happy with that.’

In RTL Boulevard: ‘Longing During a protest on the Museumplein, Frans deliberately made a statement with a middle finger. I find it inappropriate to give a middle finger to the nursing staff who have worked their way up the snot and to all people who are vulnerable and do not dare to go outside. I advise him to say the things he says about Rutte, once in China about Xi Jinping or about Putin in Red Square, then he will discover for himself what it is like to live in a real dictatorship. We just need to talk less about Lange Frans, he shouldn’t have a platform.’

If you are so strongly against the corona policy, vaccinations and QR codes, you should not perform at an event where the public is asked to show their QR code. Then you have to refuse to perform, just like Douwe Bob. I think Lange Frans is sluggish, I’m not used to that from him. If you ask me personally, there is a difference between being against vaccinations and being against QR codes. If you are properly tested as an unvaccinated person if you want to go in somewhere and you keep your distance, you can participate in society fairly safely. I think you have to put the responsibility on the people themselves.’
