The twelfth LAC festival of stage and audiovisual art “Patriarch’s Autumn” ended on October 8 at the Theater Academy “Zirgu pasts” of the Latvian Academy of Culture (LCA), where the main prizes were won by Klāvs Kristaps Košins and Gundega Rēdere, AKA Lūie artists get the opportunity to create new performances at next year’s festival “Autumn of the Patriarch”.
She said that she had seven theater and ten contemporary dance performances at the festival. Participants were judged by three festival juries – theater, contemporary dance and a student jury. The theater art jury consisted of the festival’s patroness Karina Pētersone, actress Ausma Kantāne, as well as directors Edmunds Freibergs, Valdis Lūriņš and Gatis Šmits.
In theatrical art, the main prize – a kerosene lamp from Peter Peterson’s collection – was awarded to Koshin for the play “Conclave”. The performance “Conclave” will continue to be available in the repertoire of “Dirty Deal Teatro”. The best actress award at the festival was given to the young actress of Daile Theater Katrīna Griga for the title role in the play “Blanch. White Forest” directed by Mikhail Gruzdov, while the best actor award was given to the young actor of Liepāja
The jury of contemporary dance art included director and professor of the Latvian Academy of Arts Māra Ķimele, as well as choreographers and dancers of contemporary dance Dmitrijs Gaitjukevičs and Andris Kačanovskis. The jury unanimously recognized Gundega Rēder’s choreography for the performance “Horizon” as the best work in the category Contemporary Dance. Also, three more performances – “Anima”, “Elaeis Guineensis” and “Sync” – were awarded by the jury with their individual sympathy awards. All four contemporary dance performances received the opportunity to perform their works as guest performances in the city of Valmiera in 2022.
For the second year in a row, the student jury was formed by students of the Latvian Academy of Music, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and the Latvian Academy of Arts, awarding their special festival special prizes. The jury – Renāte Saulīte, Krišs Grunte, Henrijs Poikāns, Annija Zariņa, Krišjānis Pērkons and Agnese Pētersone – awarded prizes in several categories.
The most personal performance was recognized by the choreographer Vladimir Gorshantov’s production “My Sour Cream”, in the category “The Most Successful Synthesis of Music, Light and Dance” the laurels were won by the choreographer Marģers Vanags’ production “In a Fashion with Yourself”.
The production “Persona” by director Mārtiņš Gūtmanis and artist Andris Kaliņš won the category “Best Visual Design”. Košin’s production “Conclave” received the festival’s recognition award.
The prize for the best musical design went to the production “Prometheus” by director Eliza Dombrovska and composer Jēkabs Nimmanis. Krišjānis Strods and Agnese Laicāne won in the category of the best actors for their work in the play “Blanša. Baltais mežs”.
Lūse pointed out that this weekend, from October 15 to October 17, there will be a satellite event of the festival “Patriarch’s Autumn” or guest performances in Gulbene region. In Gulbene Culture Center and Stāmeriena Castle, it will be possible to watch four performances created by young artists, including the winners of the festival – performances “Konklāvs”, “Elaeis Guineensis”, “Aistēti” and “Vecākāšanās”.
