Thus, an important piece has probably fallen into place in the new government of the Labor Party’s leader Jonas Gahr Støre.
The only thing that has been clear so far is that Støre himself will become prime minister.
Støre stated on Monday afternoon that the Council of State cabal is almost ready, and that he has received yes from several he has called.
Powerful position
The Minister of Finance is considered the second most powerful position in the government, after the Prime Minister. For the Ministry of Finance is sitting on the money bag and thus has an overview of most of what goes on in the government.
It has been expected that the Center Party would get the post of Minister of Finance, but there has been speculation about different names.
Now, several sources who have insight into the case, independently of each other, confirm that it will be the SP boss himself who will control the money bin.
No other cabinet posts have been confirmed so far. And until the government is on Slottsplassen on Thursday, there may still be changes.

Adventurous success
Farmer Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (42) from Stange in Hedmark took over as party leader in the Center Party in 2014. He has been elected to the Storting since 2005.
Vedum also has experience from the red-green period under Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg (Labor Party), when he was Minister of Agriculture from 2012 to 2013.
Under Vedum’s leadership, the Center Party has grown strongly and made very good choices both in 2017, 2019 and now this autumn. After the Storting election in September, Sp has 28 Storting representatives.
Negotiated finished
After the red-green election winner gnot the Labor Party, the Center Party and the Socialist People’s Party in polls to find out if there was a basis for a majority government with the three parties. But after a week of probing left SV Hurdalsjøen hotel.

And last Friday, Støre and Vedum were able to inform that they had come up with one agreement to form a government.

After that, the Labor / Social Democrat government must negotiate with SV to get a majority in the Storting for next year’s budget.
