American officer shot dead during first shift, suspect arrested

Police quickly identified 43-year-old Damien Anthony Ferguson as the suspected perpetrator. A major manhunt was launched, but Ferguson was initially unsuccessful. That happened a day later. His motive has not yet been disclosed.

Harrison’s colleagues expressed their condolences to the bereaved on social media. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp does the same. He expressed his gratitude to the police for arresting the suspect.
