Reality star Kim Kardashian made her debut as a talk show host on Saturday. And not from the first the best program: Kanye West’s ex-wife presented the ever so popular Saturday night live. An attempt by the creators to revive the show, in which Kardashian did quite well.

Much more iconic than Saturday night live TV shows don’t become. The NBC program, brimming with humor and music, has been the big break for many comedians and celebrities since its inception in 1975. Eddy Murphy and Chevy Chase for example, but the list is much longer. But in recent years it has not caught on with the public. The viewers dropped out en masse, to such an extent that last week not even one percent of television-watching America tuned in to the show.
In other words, something had to be done. And so the makers of the program approached reality star Kim Kardashian, if she did not even want to present the talk show. Not a bad idea: if all of her 258 million followers were watching, the program would have been revived immediately. And so she made her debut as a talk show host on Saturday.

Anyone who thinks that Kardashian takes himself very seriously in 2021 turned out to be wrong. Dressed in a bright pink outfit, she mocked herself and her relatives for being a sweetheart. “I’m also surprised that I’m standing here. In my entire life I’ve only been in one movie, and I didn’t even know it existed,” she alluded to her legendary sex tape.
Ex-husband Kanye West also liked to drag them through the mud. “I tied the knot with the greatest rapper of all time,” Kardashian said. “The richest black man in America has given me four wonderful children. So when I filed for divorce, it was really only about one thing: his personality.”
Suddenly she said she would run for president of the United States. Another joke, it turned out. “We can’t have three failed politicians in our family,” she mocked the failed attempts of ex-husband Kanye for president and stepmother Caitlyn for governor.

So for her monologue at the beginning of the show, for which she received a lot of praise in the reviews, Kardashian did a very good job. But in the many skits for which the show is known, she did not get a good turn, critics noted. She did bring a lot of celebrity friends on board to participate, such as Cardi B and Lizzo.
