Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Deontay Wilder declared himself lost because Tyson Fury successfully played a strategy leaning on him in the duel for the WBC heavyweight title.
Wilder lost by knockout in the 11th round. In a fierce duel that was colored by four knockdowns, Wilder finally fell after being hit by Tyson Fury’s hook.
After losing, Wilder was said to have said the reason behind the defeat.
“I did my best but it wasn’t enough,” said Wilder Boxingscene.
Wilder then stated that Tyson Fury was successful in playing a lean strategy on him and it broke the rhythm of the fight he had planned.
“I’m not sure what happened. I know that in preparation, of course he did some premeditated things.”
“I also know that he certainly didn’t come at 125kg to be a ballet dancer. He came with the intention of leaning in, trying to screw me up and he did it,” said Wilder.
In that match, Tyson Fury did seem to be close and trying to embrace Wilder while his hands often pressed down on Wilder’s neck area.
After losing by knockout in the 11th round, Wilder himself refused to linger in the ring. He even passed and immediately left the match area.
Even though he lost by knockout, Wilder’s performance was quite commendable. Wilder fought it out and even knocked out Tyson Fury twice in the fourth round.
