A spokeswoman confirms this after an item about this in the consumer program Kassa. According to Kassa, research by producer Tetra Pak shows that drinks cartons contain almost as much plastic as a PET bottle, but that they are less recyclable. There has been a deposit on plastic bottles since July.

According to the Jumbo spokeswoman, the drinks cartons were an addition to the plastic bottles and not a replacement. “In response to the questions we recently received, we took a critical look at the properties of this packaging for our 500 milliliters of water,” says Jumbo. “We have come to the conclusion that this packaging as an alternative to the PET bottle does not fit within our sustainability strategy of ‘packaging better and less’. We have therefore decided to phase out this product and no longer include it in our range.”
