The image deficit of Loudeac, it is still the pure Loudéaciens, the Loudéaciens at heart, who complain the most… Logical.
Accompanied by the mayor Bruno Le Bescaut and the president of the community of communes Xavier Hamon, the senator Annie Le Houérou met the boss of Transports Garnier alongside for an informal exchange on current topics.
Problems of recruitment in companies, training, fear of new environmental constraints that would upset economic activity …
Nicolas garnier especially regrets this persistent gap between the quality of life that can be found in central Brittany and the not very shining image that we sometimes persist in having of it, from the outside.
Annie Le Houérou is very surprised: “It is people who do not know the territory who have this image”.
For its part, it rather retains its great natural wealth; remarkable sites (Aquarev, Guerlédan…) And all the more pleasant municipalities.
It is true that at the time of this meeting, Friday 1is October, the Senator was still under the spell of her visit to the pretty town of Quillio.
The city center, Loudéac, does not lack charm either, far from it. But, if we summarize the thought of Nicolas Garnier, it is a charm far too discreet for the passing foreigner to notice …
“What’s the catch in Loudéac?” “
“We have a phenomenal number of associations, but when we only cross the territory, it doesn’t show,” he says. It especially retains, for its part, the too often deserted streets of the city center. The associative fabric is there – very good. But when you’re just passing through Loudéac, what’s the catch? “
“Do you think we’re slipping at the town hall?” », Bruno Le Bescaut launches him, in the tone of friendly protest. No one can deny the efforts made to revitalize the city center for years. And the mayor of Loudéac believes he sees the first fruits of this proactive policy in a significant increase in traffic in the city center: “I have never seen so many people in Loudéac as for a few months”, he assures. .
Nicolas Garnier remains a little dubious, but agrees that in any case, this lack of image of Loudéac, really only depends on “marketing”.
“To be able to attract executives and retain them in their place of business, you also need an attractive environment,” sums up the senator.
An incomprehensible gap in state allocations
Since Annie Le Houérou’s parliamentary mission is to “bring the particularities of this territory to the highest level”, Bruno Le Bescaut, takes the opportunity to recall that the state does not do much for his city in budgetary matters …
“€ 800,000 of global operating allocation (DGF) for Loudéac against 2.7 million euros for Guingamp! “
The gap seems all the more enormous as Guingamp only count 7,000 inhabitants while there are 10,000 in Loudéac. Annie Le Houérou replies that three quarters of the inhabitants of her town “do not pay taxes because their income is below the thresholds. On the other hand, the city doubles its population every day because it has school boarders ”.
If the DGF received by the municipality of Guingamp is so high, it is because it must remain able to finance the equipment and services necessary for this population.
Where we still do not understand such a gap is that many Loudéaciens do not pay taxes either because of their low income. And that, moreover, the city also welcomes many workers every day living outside Loudéac …
