Kuala Lumpur –
Malaysia will lift restrictions on interstate and international travel. This rule applies specifically to residents who have vaccinated against COVID-19 complete.
As reported by Reuters, Sunday (10/10/2021) Malaysia has now achieved the target of its vaccination program, in which 90% of its adult population has been vaccinated.
The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the government allowed Malaysians who had been fully vaccinated to travel abroad without having to apply for a permit. These new rules will take effect next Monday (11/10/2021).
With this new policy, Malaysia is currently preparing to move into the endemic phase of COVID-19. This phase will not impose a lockdown, even if cases increase.
“We have to train ourselves to live with COVID, because COVID may not be completely eliminated,” said Ismail Sabri.
According to data as of Saturday (9/10), nearly 65% of Malaysia’s 32 million population, including those aged 12 to 17, have been fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Indonesia’s neighboring country has now recorded 2.3 million coronavirus infections and 27,265 deaths from COVID-19 since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
