As the newspaper notes, citing sources, Lukashenka’s involvement in the smuggling of migrants from Belarus through Poland to Germany is being investigated.
“According to information from BILD am Sonntag, the German authorities are now investigating Lukashenka’s actions as the main smuggler,” the newspaper writes.
It is also reported that almost 4,000 migrants have illegally moved from Belarus to Germany since August 2021.
According to Bild, young people from Iraq and Syria are most often trying to get into the country illegally. As a rule, they first enter Belarus from Iraq, UAE, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and Syria on student visas.
After arriving in Minsk, border guards or police transport them to sections of the Polish border with minimum security. Having moved to the EU, the illegal immigrants continue their way in the direction of Germany on their own.
According to journalists, migrants pay the Belarusian side about 4,000 euros for crossing the border with the EU.
