A Chinese company called Sintech has come to the rescue of gamers who want to expand the capacity of their consoles Xbox Series X|S through the external proprietary port on the console. Basically we are facing an adapter with CFexpress Card PA-CFEM2-C interface where you can install an M.2 2230 SSD inside to add additional storage to the console saving money.
Remember that Xbox Series X | S consoles use their own storage expansion cards that come in CFexpress 1.0 Type-B format with two PCI-Express 4.0 lanes (as opposed to the 2x PCIe 3.0 required by the CFexpress 1.0 Type-specification specification. B).
However, the adapter has a significant limitation. Although it can accommodate any M.2 2230 drive, consoles are only compatible with certain SSD drives with specific firmware and internal format. For example, him WD Blue CH SN530 Western Digital is naturally compatible with Microsoft consoles, but the WD Blue PC SN530 is not. This could be the reason why the typical CFexpress 1.0 Type-B cards, used in cameras, cannot be used to expand storage on Microsoft consoles.
Unfortunately, currently it’s unclear how many SSD drives are on the market that fit these specific requirementsOf course, the manufacturers themselves know that and can raise prices to take advantage of the situation.
