Covid-19: a cluster discovered at Emile-Roux hospital in Puy-en-Velay

The Emile-Roux hospital in Puy-en-Velay identified a cluster within the hospital itself, within the medical service, at the end of the week.

Two proven cases. Then five. Then eight. Since Friday, the Emile-Roux hospital center has been facing a growing contamination of Covid-19 inside a department. This service is that of medicine and it affects only patients.

The hospital had applied health rules at different levels with regard to the health pass. No health pass is imposed on patients with the idea of ”treating everyone”.

But on Friday, several patients were affected and the sick were isolated. “We took all the necessary measures, we isolated the people concerned and tests were carried out”, indicates Jean-Marie Bolliet, the director of the hospital who confirms “the existence of a cluster in the hospital” .

All visits have been suspended, only in the medicine department. “I wanted to visit my father and I was informed that no visit was possible”, confirms the son of a hundred-year-old patient.

“We have already known that during the crisis. There is nothing to overreact,” adds the director of the hospital, who emphasizes vaccination. “Not all affected people were vaccinated. Next to that, we have three patients in intensive care, all unvaccinated.”
