How dangerous is Berlin? The criminal weekly review

BerlinThere is bad news and good news in this weekly criminal recap. A 14-year-old suffered severe alcohol poisoning in Karow. A week ago he drank schnapps at a playground with a friend of the same age and a 13-year-old friend, which an 18-year-old had bought them and is now being investigated for assault. The police found the 14-year-old lying unconscious on the floor. He came to an intensive care unit with three per thousand alcohol in his blood.

Now the good news: police officers caught a car arsonist in Weißensee. A resident of Langhansstrasse saw a man last weekend who wanted to set fire to a Honda. He dialed 110, arrested the perpetrator and handed him over to the police. The man had smashed a window in the car and tried to ignite dry leaves inside. The owners of other cars had less luck during the night: a VW bus burned out in Steglitz, and three cars were in flames in Friedrichshain.

On Tuesday there was the next good news – from Mariendorf: The police reported that section 44 officials had arrested a “thieving duo”. The two men had stolen a bicycle.

Anyone who could not sleep on Wednesday night in Lichtenberg may have been awake because of the rattling of the police helicopter that was taking part in a chase. When police officers wanted to check a rover, the driver accelerated and drove – followed by flashing lights and a siren – through Alt-Hohenschönhausen and Fennpfuhl. He was carried out of a curve in Hohenschönhauser Strasse and landed in a bush. It was smoking weed and there were stolen license plates on the car.

On Thursday night there was a break-in in a veterinary practice in Spandau. Three Moldovans had vandalized the rooms before police arrested them. What the burglars were looking for in the veterinary practice is not clear. Maybe ketamine, which has been stolen from vets lately? The anesthetic is used as a party drug. Space and time dissolve, you experience colorful fantasy worlds or – and that’s the bad news – a horror trip with respiratory failure.
