Guitarist Jānis Ruņģis’ association “Jānis Ruņģa Presence” has released a new single “Šūna”, for which an attractive video created by director Marta Mēness has also been made.
“Once in a hurry on a winter evening, two friends met in the zoom to enjoy their grape products together in a virtual and unhurried atmosphere,” says Jānis Ruņģis. “They were almost 300 kilometers apart, but the internet connection was as strong as the drinks. There was a question about the music video, and Martha agreed that something had to be done, and sometime IR had to meet again. For example, in Liepaja. ” It was quickly concluded that the song “Šūna” would best correspond to the absurd time, because Marta had already drawn the basic idea in her head during the same conversation: “Well, I see Mikēlis tights, but you will have to dig a ditch. We still need a double bass… ”The song perfectly describes the feeling when a pandemic hit not only the pocket, but also the bottom of the soul. We feel that we are cells inside a larger system. ”
The making of the video became a legal opportunity for friends to meet again. The comments of the Internet portals repeatedly read that artists in the crisis should dig ditches, not ask for support, so this idea also came to fruition. The problem arose only with the conversation of the double bass, as a result of which Jānis performs the bass solo part in the clip on the… shovel. In the original recording of the song, it is performed on double bass (real!) By Stanislavs Judins. The recording was made in Mārtiņš Krastiņš ‘studio and guitarist Miķelis Putniņš also took part in it. A meeting of friends, with the participation of the artist Diana Lelis in the activities shown in the frame, took place in the colorful Karosta and was filmed by Reinis Helmuts Aristovs, having fun with Kaspar Jaudzems with a drone.
With this single “Jānis Ruņģa Klātībāne” closes the cycle of his second album “Dzīvojumi”, because the songs of the third album planned for next year are already being written in the studio.
