Rohlík invests 400 million euros in warehouse robotization, starting in Germany

The domestic e-commerce group promises up to a threefold increase in the capacity of its distribution centers and productivity when unloading goods from warehouse automation Rohlik Group. He wants to launch the first robotic solution in the distribution center of his German branch Knuspr.de in Munich. The company informed about it in the press release.

“AutoStore storage boxes are placed vertically in a grid and stored in a cubic structure. The boxes are selected by robots that move along the structure on the rails. This is complemented by an efficient picking workplace, “describes the Rohlik Group, adding that in the first phase it will pour 45 million euros into automation and in the years 2022 – 2025 a total of up to 400 million euros.

Robotization is to expand the capacity of the Munich distribution center by 30%. “The Munich distribution center is divided into several temperature zones: dry, chilled and frozen. In the first phase, the automation at Knuspr.de covers a dry zone with up to 10,000 products. It will cover 60% of this range, “adds the company.

The company wants in the Czech Republic to build a fully automated warehouse in Chřášťany near Prague, finished in the fall of next year.

Online supermarket Rohlik.cz entered the German market in August this year under the Knuspr.de brand. In the meantime, it is delivering shopping in Munich and is planning to expand to Frankfurt, Dortmund, Hamburg or Cologne. The Rohlik Group also operates in Hungary and Austria.
