The child ended up in an underground container at JW Paltelaan in Zoetermeer this afternoon around 3 p.m. reports Omroep West. It is not known exactly how that could have happened.

A bystander tried to save the boy, but got himself trapped in the process. To free the two, the back of the container was detached. The boy was eventually reunited with his mother.
The man was not injured. Ambulance staff treated the boy and took him to hospital for a check-up. He is doing well under the circumstances, a spokesperson for the fire service said.
