Suara.com – Asus Zenfone 8 confirmed to be released in Indonesia on October 15 later. This phone has also been confirmed to support 5G internet from Indosat Ooredoo.
Even so, Asus Zenfone 8 have not been able to directly use the 5G internet in Indonesia. Asus is still preparing a firmware update to activate the fifth generation internet feature on the phone.
“We are still coordinating with Indosat Ooredoo to activate 5G internet on Asus Zenfone 8. So we have to update the firmware first,” explained Advent Jose as Asus Indonesia Product Marketing at the Media Sneak Peek Zenfone 8 event which was held virtual, Friday (8/10/2021). ).
In detail, Asus Zenfone 8 already supports 5G internet with bands n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n20, n28, n38, n77, n78. Indosat itself uses the n3 band which runs in the 1,800MHz or 1.8GHz frequency band.

Meanwhile, for other 5G internet, such as from Telkomsel, they use the n40 band at a frequency of 2.300MHz or 2.3GHz. The band does not yet have Asus Zenfone 8 support, which means the phone cannot use Telkomsel’s 5G internet.
Jose admitted that his party is currently still working on the 5G internet activation process that Indosat Ooredoo users can enjoy. He hopes this effort can be done as soon as possible.
“We are trying to activate 5G on Zenfone 8 as soon as possible so that it can be enjoyed by users in Indonesia. So we still have to wait for the firmware update,” he explained.
