Washington – According to the Pentagon, the war in Afghanistan cost the United States almost 1000 billion dollars (a sloppy 865 billion euros), President Joe Biden even speaks of double that. Hundreds of millions of those could be labeled a silly expense, a new report from the Inspector General for Reconstruction in Afghanistan shows. For example, the money was spent on an aircraft fleet that was sold for scrap after a year or on military uniforms that stood out instead of camouflaged, and on the construction of a megalomaniac hotel that is in dilapidation.
