USA: Footballers interrupt match to denounce sexual abuse

Last night in the United States, footballers interrupted a match to denounce the sexual assaults suffered by some of their teammates.

The match between Washington Spirit and Gotham FC on Wednesday was interrupted by the footballers to denounce the sexual abuse suffered by some of them. The players suspended the match and positioned themselves arm in arm in the circle in the center of the field after 6 minutes of play. 6 minutes, to signify the years of abuse they had suffered. Waves of dismissals and resignations had followed Sinead Farrelly’s statements.

Recall that such interruptions were observed on Wednesday during a game between the North Carolina Courage and Racing Louisville in Cary, North Carolina, and between the Portland Thorns and the Houston Dash in Oregon.
