Andy Beal beats Jerry Jones in Dallas

There’s a new Texan billionaire on the annual list of the 400 richest Americans de Forbes, and a rearrangement at the top in Dallas.

Following his much-publicized move from California to Texas, Elon Musk is now the state’s wealthiest resident, displacing first place in 2021 who had always topped the list of richest Texans, Walmart heiress Alice Walton.

A surge in Tesla stock prices nearly tripled the electric car company’s founder’s fortune.

Musk’s estimated net worth of $ 190.5 billion is second only to Amazon founder and space project rival Jeff Bezos as the richest man in the country.

Bezos’ net worth is $ 201 billion, $ 22 billion more than a year ago, according to Forbes.

Both Musk and Bezos have made Texas a key state in their plans to privatize the space.

Musk’s company SpaceX has a launch pad on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico near the Mexican border, while Bezos launches his Blue Origin rockets from a remote part of West Texas.

In Dallas, banker Andy Beal returned to the top of the list after being surpassed last year by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

They both watched their fortunes grow, though Beal’s $ 2.3 billion jump put him ahead of Jones. Beal had topped the list several times before.

Alice Walton, who is registered in Fort Worth, lost the top spot on Texas’ list to Musk, but she remains America’s richest woman for the seventh year in a row.

His estimated net worth increased to $ 67.9 billion, which is now $ 5.6 billion richer than last year as a result of Walmart’s double-digit stock surge.

Many other billionaires on Forbes’ 40th annual list saw their wealth grow considerably in the past year.

The combined fortunes of the 400 richest men and women grew 40%.

According Forbes, just the first 20 together add up to an impressive $ 1.8 trillion fortune.

To be included on this year’s list, the bar was raised substantially, from $ 2.1 billion to $ 2.9 billion.

Thus, 51 billionaires were left out, including former President Donald Trump and television host Oprah Winfrey, as well as some Texans.
