The US Senate on Thursday approved a bill to raise the debt ceiling of the United States until December and therefore temporarily rule out the threat of default by the world’s largest economic power.

Only the Democratic senators approved a text, by 50 votes to 48, which would raise the country’s debt limit by 480 billion dollars and allow it to honor its payments until the beginning of December.
The Democratic-majority House of Representatives must approve it immediately, probably in the middle of next week
