Researchers at Hokkaido University, including virologist Keita Matsuno, performed a genetic analysis on blood samples from two patients infected with the Yezo virus.
There are currently no reported deaths related to the Yezo virus. However, researchers expect further research to be carried out throughout Japan.
“All cases of Yezo virus infection that we know of so far have not resulted in death, but it is most likely that the disease was found outside Hokkaido, so we need to quickly investigate its spread,” said expert Keita Matsuno.
