The motorist has already been caught 13 times by customs, on the A31. And that does not slow him down. Almost every time, he makes the same trip: Luxembourg-Lyon region. Not that he fell in love with the North-East of France… This 55-year-old man lends himself to the juicy traffic of cigarettes.
On Tuesday, he was sentenced by the Thionville criminal court for two trips: one in May 2020, the other in March 2021. He had been intercepted by customs in Richemont then in Guénange. All together, he was carrying 90 kilos of tobacco, or 512 jars. He was sentenced to eight months firm to which a € 71,000 customs fine was added.
And it is not over, since he is still summoned to the courts of Metz and Nancy for similar proceedings.
