A state of emergency has been declared in the medical sector

The State Operational Medical Commission on Thursday decided to declare a state of emergency in the Latvian medical sector, the Minister of Health Daniels Pavļuts (AP) confirmed to LETA.

This means that treatment facilities will be more free to use their resources to provide assistance to both Covid-19 and emergency patients with other conditions.

The Ministry of Health previously explained that the medical emergency should be seen as the last signal to the public that the situation in medical institutions is very complicated and that everyone’s support is needed in the fight against the spread of Covid-19.
