Sweden suspends use of Moderna vaccine in people under 30 / Article

The Swedish Public Health Agency has decided to temporarily suspend the use of the Covid-19 vaccine, developed by the pharmaceutical company Moderna, in people under 30 years of age.

This decision is made because, in rare cases, myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) may occur after receiving the vaccine. The agency notes that this problem has been observed among young people, especially after receiving the second dose of the vaccine.

Young men and boys have encountered it more often. Problems usually appear within four weeks of receiving the vaccine, most often within two weeks.

However, the agency emphasizes that this is a very rare side effect of the vaccine.

Swedish people under the age of 30 are now recommended to be vaccinated with a vaccine developed by Pfizer / BioNTech.

The Swedish Public Health Agency has already announced this week that adolescents aged 12 to 15 will only be vaccinated with Pfizer.
